Water is Energy 2016 (WIE16) – Project Report

In 2016, as part of our Water is Energy initiative, we set out to provide sustainable access to clean drinking water for communities struggling with water scarcity.
Partnering with the Hope Foundation Cameroon, we worked towards building a future where both students and local inhabitants of Bertoua, Cameroon, could easily access clean water while respecting the environment.

Key Achievements:

  • Eco-friendly Water Solutions: Developed a sustainable system to provide water with minimal environmental impact.
  • Reduced Distance: Installed systems that reduced the distance to clean water sources for the local community.
  • Renewable Energy: Solar-powered water pumps and lighting for the school site, ensuring long-term sustainability.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Community engagement and education on renewable energy and innovative water technologies.

Monitoring & Sustainability:

The Hope Foundation Cameroon is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the project. TEFA e.V. continues to manage and oversee the water system’s sustainability, ensuring it benefits the community for years to come.

Project Objectives:

  • Organize community meetings to educate locals about solar energy and water management.
  • Implement an effective water management system tailored to the community’s needs.
  • Install solar-powered systems to support water pumps and lighting infrastructure.
